It's not you, it's me . . .

You were just
A challenge
That’s all you were
To me

I don’t think
I liked you much
But wished
You wanted me

And wanting it
So badly
To prevail

Determined not to fail

Upset it was upsetting
I couldn’t reel
You in

After approach
I tried
I wanted so to win

Yet had I really won you
If “we” had come to be

Another one would challenge
And I would set you free.
