Hey, little one, don’t be coy,

Take that alpha step, my boy.

You’re luxuriating in my womb,

Can’t stay, it’s not a catacomb.

You do know what tomorrow is?

I thought not; for that day is his.

Didn’t think you’d bring a gift,

Hopefully focused on your super-shift.

So, I got you a present for your dad.

Only delivered after birth, I should add.

See, you shouldn’t really stay,

Best you join us on Father’s Day.

I don’t know why you are late,

Ten days stuck in the starting gate.

Life’s not a vale of tears, I swear,

Your arrival will be with great fanfare.

You know I’ve put up with a lot,

I don’t mean shopping for a cot.

Do you remember you first trick?

A flood of hormones made me sick.

Then you stuck in the boot,

I guess imagining that was cute.

And there’s stretch marks too,

Wider now you’re overdue.

I know I’m facing labour pains,

But I won’t be one that complains.

You are loved more than I can say,

Let’s make tomorrow your birthday.

Otherwise, science will be produced,

A bit rougher if you’re induced.

Your life our perfect gift to you,

Hurry baby, make dreams come true.
