Little Victories

To those who champion the day, one minute at a time.

I woke up tired but inspired
Then my dog desired
To disobey
And run away

That kills my day

Then I heard a drop
From my rooftop
I took a peek
And found a leak

That kills my week

I lost all ambition
And want for nutrition
I rarely ate
A healthy plate

That kills my weight

It will be nine years
I lost her so dear
With pain I part
Toward a new start

That kills my heart

The torment I feel
Time has not healed
Nor the daily rife
Filled with strife

That kills my life

For every minute
I fight to win it
Make my sadness
Give in to gladness

That kills my madness

I fall asleep tired
And once more inspired
My depression gave way
To come what may

That makes my day

A sink full of dishes
My day's only wishes
I did complete
And had a treat

Little victories
