Loving you

I was told I couldn't love anyone if I didn't love myself

But that's not what my heart says when I look at a picture of you

That's not what my mind says when I hear your name

That's not what my body says when I react to your touch

I never loved myself

My thoughts would always just consume me, and I would give up

Waking up to a message from you puts a smile on my face each and every day from the moment I woke up to the moment I fell asleep

You showed me the beautiful parts that were hidden behind a mask of lies

You showed that's no matter what you think of yourself; there is always someone who will see you and only you

There is always someone who will love you for you

I loved you more than anything in my life

No one can tell me that is a lie

No one can tell I can't love anyone because I didn't love myself

You showed me what loving myself could feel like

You showed what self-worth was

I forgot what hating myself felt like the moment you walked in a room

You helped me love myself, and for that, I will always love you
