Perfect Love

Nothing could be better . . .

The whir of your approach is felt
Preceding your arrival
Electric waves pulse through the air
The atmosphere alive

With silver shivers of your touch
Before I feel your hands
And visceral excitement
Envisioning our plans

My mind flits like a crazy bee
No non-us thought breaks through
Little is accomplished
While I wait for you

Imagining the time we spend
Plays over in my brain
A well-loved racy movie
That never feels the same

As one is thirsty never tires
Of the slaking drink
And one whose hunger never yields
Until the meal’s complete

Such perfection does exist
When we reunite
No false expectation dulls
How our passion shines

Or causes us to think some dream
Trumps our reality
Apart or joined together
The force of what we feel

Carries through adversity
That visits you or me
Our mutual thrill is so profound
And binds us totally

There is no question we belong
No need to wonder why
When what we have is unsurpassed
That you can’t stay a while.
