The Knight and the Maiden

So the handsome Chevalier returns
Leaving a trail of broken hearts in his wake
Yet there is one heart he lusts after but cannot have
For it is under safeguard
Lock and keep

The fair maiden plays a tough game
Leaving our handsome Chevalier to guess what really lies beneath the surface
He has hinted at knowing her true soul
Yet he will not tell of his findings

Frustration looms between the pair
Neither willing to break the silence
And concede their true feelings for each other
Out of fear of rejection
But they both know that they are the one for the other
And the other is the one for them

Because late at night he is who she thinks of
He is who she sees when she closes her eyes
And thinks of the escalating desire that would be between them
The tender kisses
The secrets whispered in the dark
The love that would bloom and grow

And late at night she is who he thinks of
She is who he sees when he closes his eyes
Her image plays on his mind
And comforts his through the loneliness
Thinking of the escalating desire, that could be between them
The tender kisses
The secrets whispered in the dark
And the love that would bloom and grow.
