Who Are You?

Who are you when the white-hot reality of the day shines down?
When there is nowhere left to hide and I see who you are.
How clever you are at hiding the truth.
What is left of us now that I see you?

Who are you when the shadows of deceit are stripped bare?
When all the lies that you told come crashing down on me.
How you managed to blind me with desire, love, and hope.
What am I supposed to do now that I feel heartbroken and foolish?

Who are you when your secrets, white lies, and omissions come to call?
When the veil of love and respect is shattered to the floor at our feet.
How many times did I see a glimpse of the truth and you turned me away from it?
What do I do now that I know that I was in love with a lie?

Who are you when the cold hard truth is shown?
When I am left looking at who you are, who you told me you were and I refused to see.
How can you live with yourself, waking up every day knowing you built me on a lie?
What do you learn from this; to be a better person or to be better at the game?
