As a very, very small child, One of my most enduring memories was listening to the radio with my Mum. The one tune that brings that all back so clearly is Faure's Berceuse. It was the theme tune to 'Listen With Mother' on the BBC Radio.
I recently bought the album 'Piano Portraits' by Rick Wakeman. Imagine my delight when Berceuse played. I had no idea that was the title of the piece and those wonderful childhood memories came instantly flooding back.

Any brass band or pipe & drum music. Dad was heavily into it and listened to a program of it from a local radio station on Sunday nights. I was rather disappointed that my tour of the UK did not overnight in Edinburgh. We were there during their huge band festival and I would love to have gone.

"Forever Autumn" by Justin Hayward (lead singer of the Moody Blues but this was solo). It came from a concept album for a musical version of the s-f classic The War of the Worlds. I remember we were driving to Toronto and the radio show we had on played an except (not that song) from the album. Already a fan of the book and the 1953 movie, I was hooked. And, lo and behold, I found it in the huge Sam the Record Man on Yonge Street when we went shopping in downtown Toronto. While I love the whole album (2 disc set on vinyl and CD), "Forever Autumn" was really the song that introduced me to Hayward and made me a lifelong fan of the Moodies.

Just before last Christmas I heard this on the radio. It made me prick up my ears and immediately transported me back to my childhood many moons ago. Although a new song from Robbie Williams, it incorporates the music from the 60's TV show 'Robinson Crusoe'. That music like no other, has the power to transport me immediately to those carefree days.

This was the first album that was mine. I loved my parent's music and my brother's music, but this was mine. It also was the soundtrack of the summer before things in my life changed.

Mony Mony - by Billy Idol - it is the dance song that brought out the groove in my wife and I - before marriage and after. Although there are many slow songs that we danced to - this was the one that made us love being ridiculous on the dance floor. To this day - we can still bounce to it as we sing along - often looking at each other while we do.

I go a little further back than Billy idol. I always loved the Tommy James original.

I can’t be too specific here, but I sang this song to my son all the time, changing the words and using his name. Cradling him in my arms, doing laps around the dining room table until he fell asleep.

The thought of the movie still makes me sad. Like Bonnie and Clyde sad, but less so in the anti-hero and anti-heroin sense.

Thanks for the vid.

You're welcome, Ping. That has put me in mind of a show which, although made before I was born, was shown on British TV when I was very young.

One 'song' that brings back happy childhood memories was Rossini's " William Tell Overture" finale
purely as it was used as the theme music for the 1950's TV series " The Lone Ranger " - an episode of
which I'd see every Saturday morning at the local Odeon cinema !

Happy innocent days 😊

There are no strangers here - just lots of friendly folk to chat with and stories to enjoy 👀

Wow! That brings back an almost forgotten memory. I used to love going to the ABC Minors club on a Saturday Morning.
Such simple pleasures compared to the modern world and yet such happy times!
Perhaps the cinemas should resurrect it?
But then, perhaps things are too different now...

One of my all-time top three favourite songs. This is a cover by Rumours of Fleetwood Mac but how well they do it!

My husband took me to see them some years ago now. It was in a place called Dartford, South of London. They were brilliant. One of the best cover bands ever. A really good night. They went through the Peter Green era all the way up to Tango in the night, Tusk and of course, Rumours

A piece of music that has been with me since my childhood. Probably what sparked my interest in all things miniature.

The album that really cemented my love of Kate Bush (I've been a fan since my teens) was Hounds of Love. So I was delighted when the lead-off single from that album came back to life this year (thank you, Stranger Things) and charted even better than on first release.

I joined the Royal Air Force in 1979. Whilst on my trade training course, one of the other trainees loved this song and constantly played it in the evenings. Whenever I hear it, it takes me straight back to those wonderful days. I was married the following year and moved into married quarters, but I always remember those days.
