Watching The Rain

Watching the rain spattering on the panes
Hearing the thunder in the distance
It is the sound of hope
At last.

Soon the crocuses and the daffodils
Will burst through the fecund soil
And the gardens will bloom
Once more.

Sitting in the theater while they dance
We see the young ones rise
Up into their futures
On point.

It is the time for living and loving again
The time for singing out loud
As the songbirds build nests
In trees.

You and I have never forgotten our youth
Nor given up hope in the future
For our souls are optimistic
As always.

So our two hearts shall rise together
As we dance and sing as one
In the duet of love
In spring.
