Window Shopping for a Dream

Stars sprawl across the sky
Pursuing their everlasting quests
How I, too, wish to journey afar
Going window shopping for a dream

Perhaps I will be an adventurer
Carving stories out of my life
Away from this mental prison
Where I am forced into domestication

But maybe I want that as well
A happy wife and a homestead of my own
What a dream that would be
Should I leave this infernal pit

Or maybe I shall make myself known
Far and wide people will sing my praises
What glorious deeds I might accomplish
And be known outside these cold walls

A lover I might take
With green eyes and a devilish grin
What warm touch and passionate flurry
Might I find some day

But alas, I may only peer thru the window
And shop for my dream
For window shopping alone is but a tease
And I am trapped here
