Wish for Love

It was a mistake she tries to say

She tries to hide her face away

Shrinking and cowering so afraid

Crying and pleading, attempts to dissuade

But a boot does not hear as it swiftly kicks

Justice is dealt with large hard fists

Hands grow heavy as punishment is done

Little spirit broken fight is gone

Watching her crumble satisfied

With one last jab, he turns aside

Alone in the dark, she sobs in silence

Whispers she's sorry full of repentance

She looks out the window through bleary eyes

Wishes on stars as she cries

Let me be good so he may be appeased

All I ever want is for him to be pleased

I love him with all my heart you see

For he is my hero, my brave daddy

I am no good and may have no use

I have heard him say it and know its true

But if I try harder and be as good as can be

Maybe he could smile with love at me

That's too much to ask I know it is selfish

But deep in my heart, that is all that I wish

But my only wish was never fulfilled

By the time, I was grown my spirit was killed

Beloved strong Daddy punished me 'til the end

As I shut my eyes and let my spirit, ascend

I feel myself wish for love once again

I smile and finally let go of the pain
