"There is an escape from winter, from the cold loneliness"

The coldness stretches out, touching all corners
Bare trees, bare everything
The air is crisp and chilly, seeping in through the gaps
You disappear in the silence
Winter’s arms outstretched around you, trying to drag you in
The bleakness gripping you with icy fingertips
The days are short and the nights are long
The sky is dark.
Black
Endless
Aching
Lonely days and lonely nights
Everything is gray and desolate
Alone
But then you remember that there is an end
An end to the gray
And end to the desolate
An end to the loneliness
An end to the emptiness
An end to the austere
Because then it is spring
And there is warmth again and happiness
Colour is alive
There is an escape from winter
There is spring and there is hope
Hang on
Hang in there
